Bruce always told us that the funeral service was just a Band-Aid on the grief, and that everything else we do is what helps the family,” Kainz said. “I was part of the crisis teams that Bruce would take into the schools (to address a tragedy) and it was one of the most difficult things we did, yet it was the most rewarding.”

The Michael Jackson Funeral will not be held at Neverland Ranch

The Michael Jackson Funeral will NOT be held at Neverland Ranch

The one thing that frustrates a funeral director when making funeral arrangements is a family that keeps changing its mind on the funeral. This appears to be what is happening in the Michael Jackson Funeral.

It is clear that some of the Michael Jackson Family wanted the public Funeral at The Neverland Ranch.

A Visitation will not occur there. A Memorial Service for the public will not happen at Neverland.

Although the family had somehow gotten the Santa Barbara Sheriff, CHP and other law enforcement officials to cooperate, the Funeral will not take place at the Neverland Ranch.

Snippet from:

From TMZ.com

– it won’t be until next week– it will not be at Neverland– it will be in the L.A. area, and the Staples Center…. hasn’t been decided.

Your Funeral Guy sets funeral Fires While encouraging Cremation

6 Aug

Lower Funeral Cost Encourages cremation. Economic times are forcing people to turn to the Lower Cost option-Cremation Funeral fires are being set in Crematories for lower funeral cost and much lower than the average cost of a funeral. The best information on this can be found here:

REVIEW: Rest in Peace Insider’s Tips to the Low Cost Less Stress Funeral

This is from a Suburban Chicago Newspaper that states the average funeral cost is $6,000 and the average cremation cost is $3.000- $4,000. But we all know that you you can have the sane dignity for less:

Check out the full article here:

You can read a portion of this interesting article here:

“With the cremation rate steadily rising, we are seeing more people calling and asking questions about funeral prices compared to cremation prices,” said Gerald Sullivan, president of the Cremation Society of Illinois, which has nine locations in the Chicago area. “People are trying to get an idea of how to best spend their money, while also paying their final respects to loved ones.”

Purchasing a casket, which can sell from $2,000 to $10,000, burial plot and grave liner can all add up to be pricey funeral expenses.

Cremation can be costly as well. A family can choose to put their loved one within a casket and to have an entire funeral service before cremation.

However, a less expensive option would be to purchase an urn to store the ashes, or have the ashes scattered across grave sites, bodies of water or other meaningful places of the deceased. Cremation expenses can run as low as $1,000, for a direct cremation, which does not include visitation or services.”

Your Funeral Guy: Funeral Cost Solution Shocker-Visitation at home.

3 Jun

With the Return of the Home Funeral comes the funeral cost option of  the home visitation or visitation at home.  While some have found this funeral cost option shocking others have embraced it. Funeral cost will be drastically reduced as the home funeral  and green funeral movement grows. Under the Funeral Rule you have the right to this historic solution.

Before the Civil War Home Funerals were popular with little or no funeral cost, Now Home funerals are back again with little funeral cost. They are also eco-friendly.
It is going on in England, New Zealand, The Northwest in the United States, and around the world.
Your funeral guy has witnessed this in the Washington DC area.

Recently this movement was brought to New Zealand by two moms who became funeral directors.

Jacqueline Smith of the New Zealand Herald tells us about it in a News Story.
Read the full story here:

Sometimes to go forward it is necessary to back. In this case we are going back to pre- civil war days. It was before embalming. The parlor was near the entry way to the house. When a family member died, the deceased was usually laid out in the parlor.

There was no embalming because embalming came with the civil war. Today many folks object to the charges of the traditional funeral home and are choosing the option of the home funeral. Also some folks are choosing this option because embalming fluids are destructive to all life below the ground or above the ground.

If you choose to have a home funeral, it is best to march in the funeral home and tell the funeral director. This is the way It can done! That is how Your Funeral guy saw it happen in the Washington DC Area.
