Prepaying a Funeral Causes Stress(Not Relief)-Your Funeral Guy

19 Jul

Many a Funeral Home and Funeral Corporation will tell you that prepaying a funeral will relieve the Stress of a funeral at the time of your death.

The news about preneed of late shows that this does not work.  Often times the Funeral Directors or other preneed professionals simply take your money. The fact that this can occur is additional funeral stress.

This was the case in:

1: the NPS , National Prearranged Services scandal in 2008,2.the Illinois Funeral Directors scandal revealed in 2009.3. The California Funeral Directors Association in 2010

Funeral Preplanning does work. Funeral Prepaying does not. This was conveniently left out of a recent, Dignity Memorial, Service Corporation International, blog post.

If you are finding the stress of planning your loved one’s funeral difficult to deal with, consider funeral pre planning for own funeral. This will allow those who love you to not have to deal with this level of stress and difficulty when you pass on. Talk to the funeral director about planning your own services once you are feeling more relaxed.

The Worlds Largest Funeral Corporation May be forcing a strike in The Chicago Area by hiring armed Guards. This is just plain crazy.

On June 28, SCI hired a security firm and posted guards outside of its funeral homes, which has raised concerns among the Teamsters that the company plans to lock out employees. The contract expires Saturday at midnight but SCI has offered to extend it for one day.

The breakdown of Negotiations and a contract and strike vote at the Union appears to be what has happened. Union Picket Lines and armed Guards at Funeral homes in ChicagoLand?

Service Corporation International rejected federal mediation with Teamsters-represented funeral home employees before making their final offer on Tuesday.

A federal mediator offered to mediate the dispute between the Chicago-area Teamsters and Service Corporation International (NYSE: SCI) just hours before a strike vote loomed.

SCI had yet to make its final offer.

‘Is there any clearer indication that the company wants to force a strike?’ said Teamsters Local 727 Secretary-Treasurer John Coli

This is an incredibly bad situation for the funeral home employees and Funeral Consumers in the Chicago Area. Service Corporation International may be taking this course of action to take matters beyond strike and force the union out of their Funeral Homes! Snippet From the Latest SCI, Dignity Cemetery scandal reported in the Press.

The last place you want to find The Other Woman is on her back next to your husband. Especially when he’s dead. A woman named Lillas Hawkins in California found just that when she went to visit her husband’s grave two weeks ago. When she pointed out the error to a cemetery worker, she says he responded, “We are in terrible trouble.” The cemetery is owned by a company named Dignity.

Your Funeral Guy: More Dignity and Low Funeral Cost-Pine or Cardboard

12 Jun

A cardboard casket can save on Funeral Cost. There actually can be more dignity and low funeral cost with a simple pine box or a pressed cardboard casket. This low cost funeral option is available today just as it was 1971 for a Supreme Court Justice who insisted on LOWER Funeral Cost.

A funeral service was held for my father at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. Over 1,000 people attended, including the President of the United States…..In making the funeral arrangements, we had only three directives from my father: 1) simple, 2) cheap, 3) no open casket.”—Credit to the Funeral Consumers Alliance for a great article!

In {Canada} British Columbia —a Victoria funeral parlor is presenting lower funeral cost by selling cardboard caskets covered in wood veneer. They are made from cardboard, that is recycled and pressed to provide strength. The caskets come in imitations of pine, oak and other fine wood.

Cardboard caskets require less time and fuel in the cremation process, which reduces emissions. and put out less chemicals. Many are choosing cremation as an alternative to burial.

The caskets cost less than their real wood counterparts and it is expected the price will be reduced as sales increase. Your Funeral Guy has sold cardboard caskets.

Cremation however may not be green.
Cremations are coming under a lot of scrutiny due to harm to the environment. Cremation fires are not the best thing for the upper atmosphere.
Cremation comes with ashes and an urn.
Cremated remains need to placed, buried or scattered.
Biodegradable caskets are used in a green funeral without a vault and leave no embalming chemicals in the ground.

The best reason for biodegradable cardboard caskets is lower cost and a healthier environment.

What do you think?

Would you go down for the last time in a cardboard casket?

Lower cost funerals provide for a better future.and more money for the living.
