Former President Bill Clinton has made an appearance at an Iowa Funeral Today. Former Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Edward Campbell’s support was key in Bill Clinton’s campaign for the Presidency in 1992.
Former President Bill Clinton has arrived at funeral of former Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Edward Campbell, being held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Des Moines’ near south side.
The former president was a friend of Campbell, who died Thursday evening from complications of cancer at the age of 75. Campbell endorsed Clinton in the 1992 presidential campaign, when many Iowa Democrats were supporting Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin for the nomination.
Clinton entered the church sanctuary right before the service began, and is seated in the front row. He is sitting in the same row as Iowa first lady Mari Culver and one row ahead of Lt. Gov. Patty Judge, whose hand Clinton kissed before he took his seat. Harkin is attending the funeral and is seated in the same row as Judge.
