Cremation, “Wildcat” Scattering of ashes on the rise-YourFuneralGuy

3 Feb

Cremation  is now at 39%  rate Nationwide in the US and is becoming increasingly popular.Cremation is the best way to come in under the average cost of a funeral and save on Funeral Expenses.

The recession has hurt the funeral industry, and as a result folks have been turning to cremation faster than expected. Many Funeral Directors will go to great lengths to raise your cremation costs. Some pride themselves on their ability  to raise cremation costs above that of a traditional funeral.

Before about 1980, just 4% of families were choosing cremation over burial. Now, 39% select cremation, and in the next 15 years, the percentage is expected to approach 60%, according to the Cremation Association of North America. The increase is being driven in part by cremation’s cheaper cost, and in part by the fact that fewer extended families are rooted in one specific place anymore—which means they don’t live close enough to visit a loved one’s gravesite.

Now what folks are doing is scattering ashes wherever and whenever they want (wildcat scattering)from dropping them from a plane to scattering them at Disney World on their Favorite ride.

Many states have laws against scattering ashes in public places or on private property. But I have never heard one story of a person arrested for Scattering Ashes.
