LA Coroner Cremates more Unclaimed in 09-YourFuneralGuy

In 2009 the LA coroner’s office has cremated more  unclaimed bodies in 2009 than 2008. Cremation ha s risen in 2009 nation wide across in the United States. The final numbers are not in but some reports have it to be 38%. The cremation rate hit 40% in Wisconsin and 45% in Minnesota in  2009. The  Lowest cremation rate is still in rural areas.

“The Los Angeles County coroner’s office cremated more bodies that were unclaimed or had indigent families than it did last year. With nine days in the year left, the number of cremations at the coroner’s office for the poor and unclaimed was put at 720 versus 708 last year, according to Capt. John Kades.-via
