Batesville Casket Company (Parent Hillenbrand, NYSE: HI) has expanded it’s casket cartel into burial vaults. This is has been done by acquiring the Goria Vault Company. The anti consumer website connectingdirectors.com is reporting on Batesville and Vaults:
Snippet
Yesterday I received an email from an Ohio funeral director who went to one of the Batesville distribution plants in Ohio to pick up a casket. While at the distribution plant he was given a sneak peek at the graveside set up Batesville is testing in Ohio, Indiana, and parts of Kentucky.
“Graveside setup ” is Funeral indsutry jargon for setting up a traditional burial site with a vault.
The fact that Batesville has had to go into burial vaults is a strong indication of funeral industry decline.
Burial Vaults are used in traditional Funerals and Burials in the United States. They are not used the UK. Burial vaults are not used in green burials. Batesville going into the burial vault business does not bode well for consumer funeral cost.

Now the reality of Batesville selling bringing on increased Cartel Status for Batesville Casket Company is only the opinion of Your Funeral Guy.

I have many reservations with regard to Batesville Casket making the run to get into the Vault Distribution Business. Batesville is trying to run the vault business into unaffordable now? I have a hard time also with using the “test area” Indiana, Ky, and TN? I believe is what I read, Indiana is already where Batesville caskets come from, I think they should go to another test area, not friendly towards Batesville and try it there, this would be a much more suitable test. As for me I am more than happy with Wilbert. As for not using a burial vault in such places as UK, did a family ever see how brutal the ground and the elements are unfriendly towards a crushed leaking element inhibited casket?
Indiana as Batesville test area is stacking the deck a bit in their favor.
The UK is running short on Burial Spaces and still does not use vaults.
They Know what happens to a casket without a vault in the ground.
I saw a vault today that had Ohio State pictures of the football field, Brutus, Woody Hayes and OSU Buckeyes all on the top of the lid and am wondering if you have this style of vaults. The funeral was held at the Mark A. Schnieder Funeral Home in Crestline, Ohio. If you don’t maybe you could guide me in the direction of where I may see one. If you do carry them what would the purchase price be? Thank you for your help.
At this time I do not carry this type of Burial Vault or a line of burial vaults The one you sounds interesting and expensive! I have never been aware of such a vault.
