A longtime friend of actor Tony Curtis says public memorial services for the Oscar-nominated star will be held Monday in Las Vegas.

Luxor casino-hotel executive Gene Kilroy told The Associated Press on Thursday that a funeral and burial for the “Some Like it Hot” heartthrob will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Palm Mortuary & Cemetery, Green Valley.

Kilroy says a reception will be held afterward at the Luxor.

Batesville Casket Company (Parent Hillenbrand,  NYSE: HI) has expanded it’s casket  cartel  into burial vaults. This is has been done by acquiring the Goria Vault Company. The anti consumer website connectingdirectors.com is reporting on Batesville and Vaults:

Yesterday I received an email from an Ohio funeral director who went to one of the Batesville distribution plants in Ohio to pick up a casket. While at the distribution plant he was given a sneak peek at the graveside set up Batesville is testing in Ohio, Indiana, and parts of Kentucky.

“Graveside setup ” is  Funeral indsutry jargon for setting up a  traditional burial site with a vault.

The  fact that Batesville has had to go into burial vaults is a strong indication of funeral industry decline.

Burial Vaults are used in traditional Funerals and Burials in the United States. They are not used the UK. Burial vaults are not used in green burials. Batesville going into the burial vault business does not bode well for consumer funeral cost.

New Oversight Legislation proposed For Arlington National Cemetery-YourFuneralGuy

There has been new oversight legislation proposed for Arlington National Cemetery(ANC). Since reports of record keeping and grave miss marking surfaced at  Arlington  National Cemetery.

Senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts and Claire McCaskell of Missouri are supporting the Arlington National Cemetery Oversight Act.

U.S. Sen. Scott P. Brown, R-Mass., along with a bipartisan group of senators, has introduced legislation aimed at preventing the miss-marking of graves at Arlington National Cemetery in the wake of a series of revelations regarding the mishandling of remains of U.S. soldiers.

Mr. Brown said the Arlington National Cemetery Oversight Act would give Congress direct enforcement power over operation of the cemetery and impose new management requirements to prevent future cases of what he called “egregious mismanagement” at the cemetery.

Recent hearings into problems at the cemetery revealed as many as 6,600 graves may have been miss-marked at the cemetery.

Actor Tony Curtis Dies Funeral to come-YourFuneralGuy

The Actor Tony Curtis has died. He was 85. He may be best known for his role in the Movie Some Like It Hot with Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe. He is also well known through his daughter Jamie Lee Curtis.

There are no funeral plans, or funeral arrangements public at this time. It is thought that Cardiac arrest was the cause of death.

Tony Curtis, the Bronx tailor’s son who became a 1950s movie heartthrob and then a respected actor with such films as Sweet Smell of Success,The Defiant Ones and Some Like It Hot, has died. He was 85.

The actor died at 9:25 p.m. PDT Wednesday at his Las Vegas area home of a cardiac arrest, Clark County Coroner Mike Murphy said Thursday.

The Eddie Fisher Funeral is apparently private or there are delayed funeral arrangements. There appears to be no  evidence of a  public announcement of a Funeral Arrangement.

There is apparently no funeral details available. No word on whether Elizabeth Taylor attended or will attend a Funeral for Eddie Fisher the singer with the famous wives.

Eddie Fisher died from complications from hip surgery at 82. His music resonated with young women before Elvis.

The World’s Largest Funeral Corporation Service Corporation International, NYSE:SCI has found it self in a wrong body wrong grave scandal. Worse yet it involved a  Jewish Burial. This all took place in  Massachusetts.

The scandal has wide significance because the Individual Involved Kim L Perry, who is (was)the Chairperson of the Massachusetts Funeral Board.

Kim L. Perry said she is a New England manager for Houston-based Service Corporation International, which owns Stanetsky Memorial Chapel in Brookline. Perry has been on the board since 2005. Her five-year term expires next month.

Stanetsky(memorial Chapel  buried one body on Aug. 26 in a grave meant for someone else, then exhumed it the next day and replaced the remains with the right body – all without ever pulling permits at the city’s health department, as required by state law, or notifying authorities, according to Stan Kaplan, executive director of the Jewish Cemetery Association of Massachusetts. JCAM owns the Chevra Kadusha Cemetery in Woburn, where the burial mix-up took place. Jewish law prohibits burying a body where another has been, because the ground is then considered desecrated. Former Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on 9-28-2010. The committal Funeral Service(burial) was at Arlington National Cemetery at 1pm Eastern time.

Former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens will be buried today at 1 p.m. Eastern time at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.

Stevens and four other people were killed in a plane crash in Alaska on August 9th.
He was 86 years old.

Four other people survived the crash.

Stevens was the longest-serving Republican in Senate history.
