With the Return of the Home Funeral comes the funeral cost option of  the home visitation or visitation at home.  While some have found this funeral cost option shocking others have embraced it. Before the Civil War Home Funerals were popular with little or no funeral cost, Now Home funerals are back again with little funeral cost. They are also eco-friendly.
It is going on in England, New Zealand, The Northwest in the United States, and around the world.

Sometimes to go forward it is necessary to back. In this case we are going back to pre- civil war days. It was before embalming. The parlor was near the entry way to the house. When a family member died, the deceased was usually laid out in the parlor.

There was no embalming because embalming came with the civil war. Today many folks object to the charges of the traditional funeral home and are choosing the option of the home funeral. Also some folks are choosing this option because embalming fluids are destructive to all life below the ground or above the ground.
